The Fun of Meeting Other Agents
By Marisa Garber-Brown     Staten Island, NY

How can you hang out at a Disney theme park with a group of fellow Disney fanatics, with no kids or spouses to worry about?  By going to a College of Disney Knowledge Graduate On-site Agent Education Program.  What is an Agent Education Program (AEP) you ask?  It is an invitation-only program for graduates of Disney’s College of Knowledge where you learn how to sell and market Disney’s products.  Where else can you have hands-on “learning” by going on Disney attractions?  Or become immersed in the Disney magic by taking seminars?  Or eat at Disney’s incredible restaurants just to experience the food and be able to make recommendations for Advanced Dining Reservations to your clients?  And can you believe it counts as work?!

Recently I had the opportunity to go to a Disneyland® Resort AEP with about twenty of my fellow MouseEarVacations.com agents.  I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard!

Being a home-based agent, while having many, many pluses, does have one downside.  You don’t get to meet everyone face-to-face.  So you can imagine how excited (and nervous) I was, knowing I was going to meet my fellow agents!  I would be able to put faces with the names of all the agents I had communicated and met through my computer. The AEP was amazing!  I learned so much and everyone was so incredibly nice and sweet.  And the best part -- they were all as crazy about Disney as I was!  Because of this, we all had an immediate jumping off point to get to know one another.  We all went on the various rides together, we all ate together, we all learned together.  You would think all this togetherness would get old but it didn’t!  It just got better and better!  Everyone was able to let loose and really enjoy themselves.  Being around other Disney fanatics is always a joy but this group had so much in common we were constantly cracking each other up.  We bonded over Pirates of the Caribbean -- I don’t think I will ever be able to ride it again without thinking of the AEP.  We laughed over fellow agents having crushes on Disney cartoon characters -- who knew Aladdin and Prince Philip were so cute?!  We went to character meals and took photos with the characters together -- yes, we acted like the big kids we all are.  We even did work and discussed the differences between the Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts.   Through it all, we learned how to sell the Disney theme parks better.

I can’t wait for the next AEP that we are all able to make it to.  While I’m sure Disney would love to think that I feel that way to learn more about their products, that is only partially true. I also can’t wait to see all my fellow agents again!
